Vyrus is a small, exclusivist Italian motorcycle manufacturer based in Coriano, Italy.

Vyrus initially worked alongside Bimota on the evolutionary development of Bimota's "Tesi" motorcycle. The "Tesi", meaning Thesis in Italian, had its origins as a university engineering project linked to Massimo Tamburini. The Tesi design was easily distinguished by the use of its Hub-center steering front suspension arrangement. Vyrus split from the Bimota and completed the first evolution of the Tesi's development, marketing the bike under their own name.

Currently Vyrus have two models: 984 C3 2V (using a Ducati-sourced 2-valve, air-cooled engine) and 985 C3 4V (again, with a Ducati-sourced 4-valve, water-cooled engine); both with a displacement of almost 1000 cm3. The 984 has a V-twin (which the Italians refer to as a "L" twin, given the cylinder arrangement) 2-valve Ducati engine which develops a claimed 90.5 HP. The 985 has a V-twin 4-valve Ducati engine which develops a claimed 150 HP.

The engineers of the company are experienced in high-class motorcycles, many of them having worked for companies like Ducati or Bimota.

Victory Motorcycles is a motorcycle manufacturer based in Spirit Lake, Iowa, United States, which began production of its vehicles in 1998. Its parent company, Polaris Industries, created the firm following the modern success of Harley-Davidson. Victory's motorcycles are designed to compete directly with Harley Davidson and similar American-style motorcycle brands, with V-twin engines and touring, sport-touring, and cruiser configurations. The first Victory, the V92C, was announced in 1997 and began selling in 1998. Victory has been modestly profitable since 2002.

In 2010 Victory marketing manager Josh Kurcinka announced a contest in which ten people won a lease on one of the two new Victory touring bikes: Cross Country or Cross Roads. The entrants had submitted a 90-second video explaining why they deserved a lease on a new bike and what they had planned for the summer. Contestants were asked to outline four different and doable road trips. Victory judged the entries based on plausibility of trips, content and originality. Submissions were taken online and at Industry Trade Shows like the New York International Motorcycle Show. Beginning in May 2010, winning riders began taking a series of road trips each month through August 2010 from two to five days each. Riders documented their experiences through blogs, videos and photos sharing both their reviews of the bikes and the sites they visit along the way.

Ultra Motor is a UK company founded in 2003 to develop drive trains and power electronics technologies for electric vehicles. The Company is one of few in the electric two-wheeler industry with its own motor production and R&D facilities in Taiwan including power electronics, industrial design in Berlin and sales and marketing in North America and Europe.

In April 2009, Ultra Motor launched its first product line into the UK - including pedelecs, e-bikes and e-scooters, under the A2B brand. The Company’s engineers and designers are passionate about developing vehicles that enable consumers to explore new forms of mobility with fun and enthusiasm.

Our vision

Ultra Motor’s vision is to establish the A2B product line as the alternative method of transportation to cars and public transport. This product line reduces CO2 emissions and eliminates many of the challenges associated with urban transportation.

Hero Eco from India, has acquired Ultra Motor’s electric two wheeler division. From January 4th, 2012 the global operations including the sales activities in the USA, United Kingdom, and Germany will be taken over and operated by Hero Eco.

Hero Eco is part of the Hero Group based in New Delhi, India which since its establishment in 1958 has grown to become one of the largest two wheeler companies in the world with annual revenues over $5 billion. The Hero Eco business division focuses primarily on environmentally friendly products and the group’s international trading business. Some of the companies under the Hero Eco umbrella include Hero Electric (electric vehicles for the Indian market), Winn Bikes (bicycles), Hero Exports (automotive components and bicycle exports), and Mediva (medical mobility equipment). Hero Eco products are currently sold in over 80 countries globally.

Hero Electric began developing electric vehicles over ten years ago which resulted in the first electric scooter products launched in the Indian market in 2007. Since then the company has sold over 100,000 vehicles in India through its network of 250 Hero Electric dealers. With over 50% market share in the electric scooter market the company is the dominant player in India’s electric two wheeler market. The company has also been very active in promoting the electric vehicle industry through the formation of the industry association which successfully lobbied the government of Delhi to provide a 25% subsidy and more recently the federal government to provide a 20% subsidy on all electric scooter sales. Recently Hero Electric has completed the development of its first electric scooters for the European market. Due to be launched in 2011 the range will include models in the 50cc and 100cc categories.

The acquisition of the Ultra Motor electric two wheeler business was a good strategic fit for several reasons. Over the past four years significant investment was made to develop the A2B range of electric two wheelers which is now distributed in over 22 countries worldwide. The product line includes electric bicycles, mopeds, and scooters based on German industrial design and high performance propulsion systems. Combined with the products developed by Hero Electric for the European market and Ultra Motor’s Fast4ward range of electric bicycles the company will now be able to offer the most comprehensive line of electric two wheelers in the world.

Additionally as a manufacturer of automotive products for over 50 years Hero Eco will be able to improve critical areas of the A2B and Fast4ward business such as after sales service, total quality management, and on time delivery. In fact the Hero Eco philosophy is service first and sales second which has enabled it to succeed in overcoming the challenges of launching electric vehicle technology in the Indian market. We will be leveraging our team of over 40 automotive engineers in India to address immediate issues such as product and spare parts documentation as well as online service training.

TVS Motor Company Limited is the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India.It is the flagship company of the parent TVS Group employing over 40,000 people with an estimated 15 million customers.It manufactures motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and auto rickshaws. It is India's only two-wheeler company to have won the Deming Prize awarded for commitment to quality control, received in 2002.

TVS and Suzuki shared a 19 year long relationship that was aimed at technology transfer to enable design and manufacture of two-wheelers specifically for the Indian market. Rechristened TVS-Suzuki, the company brought out several models such as the Suzuki Samurai, Suzuki Shogun and Suzuki Fiero. Differences in opinion on how to run the join venture eventually led to the partners going their separate ways in 2001 with the company being renamed TVS Motor, relinquishing rights to use the Suzuki name. There was also a 30 month moratorium period during which Suzuki promised not to enter the Indian market with competing two-wheelers.The company also got over a period of labour unrest that required Chairman Venu Srinivasan to take tough measures to resurrect a company that was in a state of turmoil. He would go on to invest in new technology, nurture in-house design, and implement Toyota-style quality programs

Royal Enfield was the name under which the Enfield Cycle Company made motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines. This legacy of weapons manufacture is reflected in the logo, a cannon, and their motto "Made like a gun, goes like a bullet". Use of the brand name Royal Enfield was licensed by the Crown in 1890. The original Redditch, Worcestershire based company was sold to Norton-Triumph-Villiers (NVT) in 1968. Production ceased in 1970 and the company was dissolved in 1971.

In 1956 Enfield of India started assembling Bullet motorcycles under licence from UK components, and by 1962 were manufacturing complete bikes. Enfield of India bought the rights to use the Royal Enfield name in 1995. Royal Enfield production, based in Chennai, continues and Royal Enfield is now the oldest motorcycle brand in the world still in production with the Bullet model enjoying the longest motorcycle production run of all time.

Royal Enfield motorcycles had been sold in India from 1949. In 1955, the Indian government looked for a suitable motorcycle for its police and army, for use patrolling the country's border. The Bullet was chosen as the most suitable bike for the job. The Indian government ordered 800 350 cc model Bullets, an enormous order for the time.[11] In 1955, the Redditch company partnered Madras Motors in India in forming 'Enfield India' to assemble, under licence, the 350 cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle in Madras (now called Chennai). Under Indian law, Madras Motors owned the majority (over 50%) of shares in the company. In 1957 tooling equipment was sold to Enfield India so that they could manufacture components.

Royal Enfield India is still manufacturing in India and is being sold in India and is also being exported to Europe as well as America and Australia. Recently Royal Enfield has undergone a major retooling particularly in the engine department with introduction of twin spark unit construction engine on all its models with EFI available on their flagship 500cc model. This retooling has sparked such an interest in these bikes that they have started double shifts at the plants.

The Piaggio Group is a global player, European leader as manufacturer of two-wheeled motor vehicles. The Group also holds an international leading role in the commercial vehicle market.

Piaggio based in Pontedera, Italy encompasses seven brands of scooters, motorcycles and compact commercial vehicles. As the fourth largest producer of scooters and motorcycles in the world, Piaggio produces more than 600,000 vehicles annually, with five research and development centers, more than 6,700 employees and operations in over 50 countries.

The new plug-in hybrid version of the Piaggio MP3 will be equipped with a 125 cc petrol engine and electric motor, which offers about 141 mpg-US (1.67 L/100 km; 169 mpg-imp) and travels 13 miles (21 km) using battery power alone. This machine could be out in 2009.

Piaggio/Vespa is also developing hybrid electric scooters. There are two models in the works, based on the popular Vespa LX 50 and the beefier Piaggio X8 125

Moto Morini is an Italian maker of motorcycles. It was founded by Alfonso Morini in Bologna, in 1937.

Earlier, Morini had also manufactured motorcycles together with Mario Mazzetti under the name MM. Morini came under Cagiva control in 1987, then in 1996 came under Texas Pacific Group, which had also bought Ducati, and in April 1999, the rights to the name were purchased by Morini Franco Motori spa, a company founded by Morini's nephew in 1954. After building large v-twin motorcycles early in the 21st century the company went into final liquidation in late 2010.

Today, Moto Morini is not just a brand, it is an independent industrial enterprise that has decided to re-establish its rightful position amongst the great names in the history of Italian motorbike manufacture. At the head of the company is the Morini family itself, direct descendants of Alfonso Morini and the shareholders of Morini Franco Motori, the company established in 1954 to design and manufacture motorbike engines.

This unique industrial enterprise now operates in a complex of over 12,000 m2. The entire production cycle is carried out here, from the design and construction of the engine, to the assembly of the bikes in a line designed to offer maximum flexibility.

The aim here is not to produce huge batches of bikes but rather to adapt the quantities and the models manufactured daily to satisfy the requirements of the market rapidly and efficiently. MV Agusta is a motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1945 near Milan in Cascina Costa, Italy. The company began as an offshoot of the Agusta aviation company formed by Count Giovanni Agusta in 1923. The Count died in 1927, leaving the company in the hands of his wife and sons, Domenico, Vincenzo, Mario and Corrado. Count Vincenzo Agusta together with his brother Domenico formed MV Agusta at the end of the Second World War as a means to save the jobs of employees of the Agusta firm and also to fill the post-war need for cheap, efficient transportation. The initials MV stood for Meccanica, or mechanics, Verghera, the city in Italy where the first MV's were made. The company manufactured small-displacement, Café racer style motorcycles (mostly 125 to 150 cc) through the 1950s and 1960s. In the 1960s small motorcycle sales declined, and MV started producing larger displacement cycles in more limited quantities. A 250 cc, and later a 350 cc twin were produced, and a 600 cc four-cylinder evolved into a 750 cc.

In July 2007 MV Agusta Motor S.p.A, sold the Husqvarna motorcycle brand to BMW for an undisclosed amount.According to MV Agusta president Claudio Castiglioni, the sale was a strategic step to concentrate all of the company's resources in order to expand MV Agusta and Cagiva presence in the international markets having more financial resources for new model development.

Following years of stalled ownership, the Guggenheim's "Art of the Motorcycle" icon, the F4 model, was ready for a refresh, but the financial status of the company did not allow it. On July 11, 2008, Harley-Davidson announced they had signed a definitive agreement to acquire the MV Agusta Group for US$109 million (€70m),completing the acquisition on August 8, 2008.

On October 15, 2009, Harley-Davidson announced that it would divest its interest in MV Agusta;on August 6, 2010, Harley-Davidson announced that it had concluded the sale of MV Agusta to Claudio Castiglioni and his wholly owned holding company, MV Agusta Motor Holding, S.r.l.

Moto Guzzi is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer. It is one of seven brands owned by Piaggio.

Established in 1921 in Mandello del Lario, Italy, the company is noted for its central historic role in Italy's motorcycling manufacture, its prominence worldwide in motorcycle racing, and a series of industry innovations – including the first motorcycle center stand, wind tunnel and eight-cylinder engine.

Moto Guzzi models currently in production include the Breva, Nevada Classic and Bellagio standards; California cruiser; Griso sport/standard hybrid; Norge 1200 sport tourer/GT; 1200 Sport and MGS-01 Corsa sportbikes; Stelvio dualsport.

Guzzi has made a number of historic racing and military motorcycles. The historic racing heritage is best epitomized in the Le Mans model range, still held today to be a styling masterpiece and motorcycle design as an art form.

Through various periods of its history, Moto Guzzi has produced models specifically for military and police forces. Notably, the Italian police and military and various US police departments (e.g. LAPD) have used Moto Guzzi bikes in their fleets. Guzzi currently markets police versions of model range – the Breva (all three models) most commonly, as well as the Norge, adopted by Berlin police

Mumbai, July 30, 2008: Acquisition of KMCL, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), India's leading automotive companies, announced that its Board of Directors approved the acquisition of business assets of Pune-based Kinetic Motor Company Ltd. (KMCL). The acquisition was done through a New Company to be formed. (New Co.). The consideration for the acquisition is a sum of Rs.110 crores (subject to closing due diligence) plus 20 percent stake to KMCL in the New Co. M&M holds the balance 80 per cent of the equity.

The deal enabled Mahindra to design and market a range of scooters, value engineered motorcycles and high-end motorcycles for the Indian and global markets, helping it establish a robust, end-to-end two-wheeler business in every segment of the industry.

The acquisition of business assets of KMCL is a defining moment in the history of Mahindra as it gives us an opportunity to emerge as a full range player with a presence in almost every segment of the automobile industry.

KTM Sport-motorcycle AG is an Austrian motorcycle, bicycle and moped manufacturer. The company was founded in 1934 by engineer Hans Trunkenpolz  in Mattighofen. It started out as a metal working shop and was named Kraftfahrzeuge Trunkenpolz Mattighofen. In 1954 KTM began producing motorcycles.

KTM is most commonly known for its off road motorcycles though in recent years it has expanded into street motorcycle production.

KTM began in motorsports with Motocross Racing. In the last few years KTM has gained more success in motorsports by dominating rally-raid events such as the Paris-Dakar Rally and the Atlas-Rally. In 2003, KTM started sponsoring and supporting Road racing in various capacities, with the most successful results stemming from their Supermotard or Supermoto efforts. KTM's new road racing focus will soon grow to include Superbike competition with the help of their newly developed V-Twin engine dubbed the LC8 as employed in the 950 Adventure dual-sport motorcycle, and more specifically the 2005/2006 990 Super Duke followed by the superbike contender known as the 1190 RC8. The Super Duke will have a higher output, second generation version of the LC8 engine, geared for high rpm peak power as required in road racing and superstreet applications while the RC8 will sport a 1,190 cc version of the LC8 for more midrange.

KTM offers a range of different engines for its larger motorcycles, all liquid-cooled.

KTM's official company/team colours are Orange, Black and Silver. To create a strong brand identity, all competition-ready KTMs come from the factory with bright orange plastic with "KTM" emblazoned on the side of the radiator shrouds. All KTM bikes also come from the factory with a Motorex sticker on the outside of the motor. All first fills of oil come from Motorex as well. Some official KTM teams use different colors for their bikes, most noticeably in the Dakar Rally.

Electric Vehicles have today reached levels of technological excellence and sophistication making them commercially viable.

With the present demand of transport needs of the common man to get to work and back home and "eke his living" Electric and Hybrid vehicles along with further improvement in Public Transport systems must be implemented aggressively along with Rapid Charging Stations being setup at proximate locations to the convenience of the Electric Vehicle user.

Eko - Cosmic vehicles have rear wheel hub motor which powers the vehicle. This eliminates transmission losses providing efficiency and energy savings. Absence of clutch, chain, gears and other conventional mechanical parts leads to greatly reduced maintenance. The gel - batteries are sealed and require zero maintenance.

Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. is a motorcycle manufacturer in Bologna, Italy. It produces motorcycles for both road use and motorcycle racing.

Ducati is best known for high performance motorcycles characterized by large capacity four-stroke, L-twin (90° twin-cylinder)engines featuring a desmodromic valve design. Modern Ducatis remain among the dominant performance motorcycles available today partly because of the desmodromic valve design, which is nearing its 50th year of use. Desmodromic valves are closed with a separate, dedicated cam lobe and lifter instead of the conventional valve springs used in most internal combustion engines in consumer vehicles. This allows the cams to have a more radical profile, thus opening and closing the valves more quickly without the risk of valve-float, which causes a loss of power, that is likely when using a "passive" closing mechanism under the same conditions.

While most other manufacturers utilize wet clutches (with the spinning parts bathed in oil) Ducati uses multiplate dry clutches in many of their current motorcycles. The dry clutch eliminates the power loss from oil viscosity drag on the engine even though the engagement may not be as smooth as the oil bath versions, and the clutch plates can wear more rapidly.

Ducati also extensively uses the Trellis Steel Frame configuration, although Ducati's MotoGP project broke with this tradition by introducing a revolutionary carbon fibre frame for the Ducati Desmosedici GP9.
